Celebrating the traditions of The Golden Age of Botanical Illustration (1750-1850), this all-levels watercolor painting class will explore the steps to create a 12” x 12” illustrated botanical illustration plate. Our daily practice will include the study of a flower or plant provided for that week. The class will emphasize establishing a strong process of sketch, revision with trace and transfer, color studies, and approaching our final work from a place of knowing and confidence. By the end of the session, each student will work towards one final botanical plate on 300 g cold press watercolor paper mounted on a wooden frame sealed in beeswax, ready for display or sale.
