Description
Marcia Klioze is known for her expressive portraits and figure paintings, and for her brilliant use of color. An award winning artist whose work has been recognized by the National Portrait Society, National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, Art Renewal Center, and many others, Marcia emphasizes the use of narrative in her work. She focuses on capturing not just a likeness, but the essence of the person and the moment. Students will work from live models, both costumed and nude. Students may focus on the figure, or may narrow the focus to the face (your choice). This is a painting class with a strong focus on applying drawing skills to portrait and figure painting from life. Marcia will teach you how to measure comparatively, to see as an artist, and to develop your painting progressively, from the initial block in phase (in either charcoal or paint) all the way through to the strategic application of color. You will learn to 1.) Compare the relationship of forms against each other in the composition; 2.) Develop value/color relationships and understand color harmony; 3.) Use color as a key component of your work. 4.) Develop the narrative in your painting. Painting and drawing demos will be provided with each class. Marcia paints in oil but acrylic and pastel painters are welcome. The small class size of 9 students allows for very individualized instruction, and the teacher will get to know YOU, who your favorite artists are, and what paintings make you want to paint. All levels are welcome. Model fees are split by all the students and paid directly to the instructor the first day of class. Read Marcia's Full Bio here: https://artsofgreatfalls.org/mklioze/
