Figure in the Landscape with Jill Banks

Learn the basic elements of capturing people in paint from Jill Banks! For the Spring session, we'll take advantage of the warmer weather for one or two of the sessions to move our model and easels outside into the Great Falls Village Centre to focus on the figure "in the landscape." It will be a chance to loosen up and learn a bit about painting en plein air, capturing life as Jill loves to do. That day or days, plan to do multiple painted or drawn sketches. In studio days, students can work either on the portrait or entire figure. This course covers the basic elements of capturing people in paint: composition, mood, gesture, form, structure and features. Models are clothed. Instruction in painting will cover features and how to achieve beautiful skin tones. Supply lists are provided through the links below. This will combine a bit of plein air and changing light fun and challenges with capturing people. Those days will be weather permitting and the class will be informed in advance. You are welcome to draw in charcoal. *I will give a demo at the beginning of the April 15th class which will be extended to 10am to 2pm. You'll be drawing/painting for the rest of that class!
