Description
Still life provides a great tool to hone skills (drawing, composition, seeing the big shapes, assessing values, color mixing, paint handling) that apply to painting any subject. All levels welcome. Beginners will learn the fundamentals including seeing the big shapes, assessing and controlling values, laying in lights/darks (grisaille), color mixing, materials and form. More advanced students will apply skills to increasingly challenging subject matter (metals, textures, water, flowers), and push their use of color, values, edges, paint texture, compositions, style, brushstrokes, and mood. Emphasis will be on teaching you how to be in charge of your paintings instead of studiously copying reality.
