Winter: Drawing Fundamentals

There is an old saying: You can't paint your way out of a drawing problem! Learn the fundamentals! Whether you are a complete beginner or a painter whose drawing needs work, this Drawing Fundamentals class is for you! Join Lori Goll to spend some dedicated time this winter on learning and practicing the laws of realistic drawing. Depicting a three dimensional thing on a two-dimensional surface is a challenge, but anyone can learn to draw well! Like any other skill, it takes education, dedication and practice. Through specific exercises, Lori will show you how to improve the realism of your drawing, whether it is a still-life object, a human face, or a landscape. Topics will include line-drawing techniques, using value (light and shadow) to render forms and texture, perspective (how to suggest distance and space), proportions (including the human face, features, and figure), placing figures in a landscape, and overall composition. We won’t be including color theory in this class, but will concentrate on the visual components of line, shape, form, space, texture, and value. This class is suitable for all skill levels.
