Description

Flowers are an incredibly rewarding subject but they can be tricky to paint! Filled with many colors, value changes, and an overwhelming number of petals in different shapes and sizes, it is no wonder that many artists prefer to paint them from a photograph (before they die!) In this class, you will learn to approach flowers differently by painting them quickly and expressively from life. Painting from a new, fresh bouquet each week, you will earn to eliminate the overwhelming and unnecessary information in a floral arrangement to create a painting that is loose, lively, and fast! What better way to brighten up the cold, gray days of winter? In this class you will learn: How to simplify complicated shapes, forms, and greenery Bold brushstrokes and palette knife skills Techniques for painting flowers expressively Mixing floral colors with confidenceHow to rearrange a grocery store bouquet into something you are excited to paint Demonstrations will be given in oil, but differences in technique for working in acrylic will be discussed. This class is appropriate for beginners and anyone who is eager to have fun with experimentation!
