BIO

Mariah P Sotelino is an illustrator, author, educator, and nature advocate. Ever since Mariah studied Biological Anthropology at Swarthmore College, she has been interested in the intersection between art and science. Mariah loves exploring wilderness while traveling, hiking, and field sketching and has taken ecological data on three continents. In 2021, Mariah and her family drove cross-country (with two pups in tow) so she could study scientific illustration at California State University of Monterey Bay. During the trip they visited 12 national parks and monuments. In 2023, Mariah completed a masters in Illustration at Maryland Institute College of Art to pursue sharing her passion for teaching science through art. 12. Mariah is a member of The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Society of Illustrators, and the National Science Teachers Association.
