ABOUT THE CLASS: Step into the time-honored tradition of the Old Masters and learn to recreate your favorite masterpiece from art history! In this advanced youth studio, students build invaluable fine art skills by following the same classical copy practices used at the National Gallery of Art. Guided step-by-step by acclaimed artist Michela Mansuino, students will select a renowned painting and work through traditional historical processes—progressing from initial value planning in grisaille and duotone to full color execution. Young artists will gain a deeper understanding of visual acuity, complex value relationships, composition structure, and confident color mixing while mastering the solutions that great artists throughout history have used. Students leave with an elevated mastery of paint handling, enhanced visual intuition, and a completed masterpiece of their own to treasure. *Recommended to students who have taken Classical Drawing Level I & II first. Her supportive, insightful teaching approach helps artists of all skill levels achieve remarkable results and build deep confidence in their classical oil painting techniques.
