Mixed Media I Journaling with Alessandra

Description

In this course, our young artists will learn how to combine narrative and art to create their own unique style of mixed media artistic journaling. By experimenting with 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional supplies such as oil pastel, watercolors, mixed papers, and natural & found materials, our young artists will discover their own artistic voice and develop their visual storytelling skills through free-form expression. Our young artists will begin their journaling process by reflecting on daily prompts to inspire their creativity and explore materials and techniques to answer that prompt. At the end of the week, our young artists will walk away with the beginnings of their very own artistic journal! Alessandra Chiotti is a talented fine artist from the Washington DC area who loves biology and specializes in painting, drawing, and digital animation. She uses a variety of media in her own art practice. Alessandra taught middle school art and art-based science at the Lab School of Greater Washington from 2018 - 2023 and is now pursuing an associate’s degree from Montgomery College in Digital Animation and Graphic Design. When she isn't busy creating art for her degree, she can be found painting mushrooms, creating in her art journal, or catching an animated film.
