ABOUT THE CLASS: Discover the versatile beauty of soft pastel painting and take your artwork to the next level! Designed for artists with basic pastel experience, this dynamic course explores a new technique, surface, or subject matter every single week. Through targeted mini-lectures and live demonstrations, you can choose to follow along with weekly guided exercises or apply the new techniques directly to your own personal projects. Students will explore diverse pastel surfaces, application methods, and subjects—ranging from vibrant still lifes to natural vistas, bring their own photo references and receive tailored guidance on subjects they love, practice directly from life with custom setups provided in class, and grow confidence in an encouraging environment through artistic exploration and group feedback. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Lori Goll is a highly accomplished, award-winning soft pastel artist known for her ability to capture brilliant light across vast landscapes, seascapes, animals, birds, and trees. Supply List: 1. The Largest Set of Soft Pastels that you are willing to purchase! Recommend minimum of 90 colors in the following brands: Rembrandt, Mount Vision, Sennelier, Great American, Terry Ludwig, or Unison. The Rembrandt 120 Half-stick set is good for beginners and around $150. The Unison and Sennelier 120 half-stick sets are great. If you purchase the softer Sennelier, supplement it with a small set of harder NuPastels. 2. SANDED Paper, Pastelmat 10 sheets of 9x12” UART Sanded Paper, either 400, 500, or 600 grit. 8x10” minimum or 12x18” pad to work larger. Pastel Premiere or ArtSpectrum papers are good.
