Description

ABOUT THE CLASS: Elevate your portrait painting skills by immersing yourself in classical techniques with a modern, organic edge. Working alongside a live costumed model, you will learn to build a portrait that is both technically precise and narratively engaging. Learn to truly "see" like an artist! In this course, students will explore foundational drawing and painting techniques by training the eye to observe shapes, angles, and spatial relationships. Relying on comparative measurement, this class guides you to discover the subject naturally by learning how to accurately perceive line, form, and proportion through authentic observation. Perfect for artists looking to build confidence and develop a keen observational eye. Beyond accuracy, this course will deepen your understanding of value, color harmony, and the practices needed to master rich flesh tones. Each session includes an in-depth painting demonstration by Marcia Klioze, offering a clear roadmap for your own canvas. *Open to all levels; previous drawing experience is recommended. Shared model fees are due directly to the instructor on day one.
