Youth Color Study with Michela

Learn Incamminati’s 23 pigment palette in a series of painting exercises with Michela Mansuino! Utilizing colored lights and set ups outside in natural daylight (weather permitting), and bright, simple objets, students will explore the effects of intense light on the local color of still life, with an opportunity to compare how differing light arrangements fundamentally change the color relationships of objects, called the “light key”. Class sessions will involve the creation of one modest sized oil study per class, with dialog centering on seeing value vs. color saturation, as well as on paint handling. the development of painting clean, beautiful color notes for longer studies will also receive special attention. The use of both brushes and palette knives will be demonstrated and practiced.
